I, for one, never once said Monica was some vocal powerhouse. However, I don't claim to be some vocal teacher either. I don't really care about technicalities when it comes to singing, I'm more of a feeling type of person. I mean my favorite singer is Mary J. and we all know she got some rough ass vocals. But I connect to most music that I feel and relate to, which is why I cling to who I do. 

I do notice that people most people that LOVE someone like Mary, would prefer someone like Monica.
And someone that loves Brandy, who probably prefer someone like Toni

No shade, and this is definitely not shade to Young, but why do Goon fans get so TIGHT when we call out Monica's pitch/lack of control? There are certain things that are subjective to personal taste like tone, but TECHNIQUE is not subjective. The girl is lacking in that area...let's just be real here

My post honestly was in response to the tweet that was posted of her singing Love all over me with Jermaine. I really thought it was a Brandy stan being PETTY but it was a Monica stan and he was DEADASS

Monica can sing. Her problem is she tries to do the most. She's similar to Xtina in that regard.

If they chill and just sing they sound good. Once they start trying to SANG more times than not it goes to complete hell.

I can get with this. But somebody who makes consistently BAD vocal choices makes them not so great to me 
But I agree, there have been several moments where she sounds lovely and it was when she had some damn restraint. Whew

And for the record, I'm not going to sit up here and say her technique doesn't seem to have suffered in recent years.
But she also spoke about having a vocal injuring after SS era; so I cut her some slack
