you guys are great for just seeing the post for what it is and not blowing it out of proportion
you are all able to think clearly and reasonably. that's good.
but i don't think we should simplify it too much.
we can't ignore that some people may associate mixedness and light skinned-ness with privilege
and the truth is that they aren't just imagining something that isn't there.
people experience real pain, real discrimination and face real life consequences all because they are dark skinned and/or unambiguously Black. especially women.
i think there should be a certain level of compassion as to why this stuff triggers them. and where that comes from. there is real pain in our community.
it won't trigger EVERYONE, but i want to hug those who are triggered. because many times, there may be something deeper there.
