well they are both lighter skinned and of a biracial background

She was just identifying with her IMO. Many people gravitate to those who look more like them and maybe share a similar ethnic makeup, she was just putting that into words .

Pretty sure someone like Amber idolized Mariah growing up.

And the "hoe" part was just her making fun of herself and not taking herself too seriously.

I wanna know why it's celebrated to jump up and down about being dark but other girls can't do the same

well lighter skinned people and people who are obviously of mixed heritage are often elevated in the community , many times at the expense of their darker skinned, unambiguously Black counterparts

So although I feel everyone has a right to identify with whom they'd like and celebrate who they are, I can understand why certain things may trigger people.

Some people think far enough to realize how their comments may be interpreted or may make people who don't look like them feel. They take extra time to care about things like that. Some people don't . And it's not "wrong" to not take that extra time , but I get it.

Did you guys see the second screen cap they posted?

There are a LOT of "fully Black" people out there who are not on edge or lashing out at the mere mention of someone being mixed or light skinned

sfsffsfs

A LOT of them out there will actually PUSH and encourage someone who they perceive to be mixed to identify with the "other" part of them.

Well, you SAY you're Black but....are you sure you're completely Black hun?

Yeah yeah yeah, I know if you get pulled over by the cops they'll just see a nigger, blah blah blah 🙄
But anyway, as I was saying. Where are ur parents and grandparents from? Help me make sense of what I'm seeing here.  🤔

And this all goes back to

A) We are not a monolith - we don't all think the same and
B) People's experiences can sometimes have an effect on their reactions. Maybe the people reacting a certain way have had very bad experiences.
