Guys what Afro is saying is .... and this is just my thoughts,
i feel like what he's saying is "we're all mixed somewhere down the line because we live in a melting pot"

which is very true.

He's definitely black tho, and Afro, I wouldn't get caught up in all of that other stuff tbh
you see what happened to Beyonce  :plzstop: :plzstop:
and years later sis had to come back and formate a bit

Bentley. HARRIS!

If you're not 40% or more of TWO things ... you can't really be mixed ... in a social/cultural sort of way.

I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

We as a culture have to start understanding and defining that so the term is not abused, not saying anybody WOULD do that

That's not how Native identity works.

Native people are actually offended by the notion that tribal identity is determined by specific blood percentages. It's determined by your lineage and ability to make connections with it.

what I'm saying is what my TRIBE and its elders say is what matters.  At the end of the day. Not alt accounts on bsource. That's what Afro is tryna say. Lol

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated to be only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

Wow, so nice of the Natives to do that. Wish my ancestors could. Oh wait they can't because they were brutalized and treated like 3/5 of a person.

Was Squanto ever considered less than a dog?

And was their version or the "one drop" rule before or after they were raping and killing us with the whites.

What's your "tribes" history on that?

That must be a really conflicting feeling knowing your Indian ancestor might have been a Native version of good ole Thomas Jefferson 😂

I'm very intelligent and not gooped babes. Please research more and truly find yourself outside of this "Indian" heritage, it's not it

Bentley. HARRIS!

And pleeeeeease don't take offense to that

We're the golden gorls of the bunch, blunt and no nonsense 😂

I just didn't wanna have any appetizers today,  wanted to skip to my slice of the cake.

Nothing personal

People get caught up in the racial and phenotypical mess of it all but Native identity is a tad more sophisticated than that.

Many people assume I'm "mixed with something" anyway so if being "mixed" is all I cared about I wouldn't be connected with my tribe , and finding my way to help, and building our first official website .

My elders are super excited about the work I'm doing . It means a lot to me. My tribe actually needs my help so I am so glad I found them. We are super small, and they are living in poverty up in those mountains with limited resources, no WiFi . Like many tribes are, especially smaller ones.

To reduce it all to a physical, "exotical" thing says more about the person who's making it about that than it does me.

And that's the last I'll say.

And there was no Indian enslavement in my family.
I think that's important to mention.

I am of Indian heritage through marriage.

If someone identifying with a heritage they are actually from bothers you so much, there may be some work to do on your own behalf.

I am a Black person of Indian descent and am very proud of everything I am. And that is my right .
