black men who are obsessed with color and hair texture we see dark skinned, unambiguously black women talking about this all the time
as part of their larger plight
but actually encountering one of these men is solid proof that these things aren't a figment of their imagination.
they're not making shit up.
and it's not just something that exists on social media
flat out saying mess like "i don't want want no bald headed scallywag"
"i want my girl to have hair like THAT. "
"she has options...i bet she told the darkies to get to the back! hahahahah "
this is real shit that men say when they FEEL they're in the company of people who may not be offended by it.
yeah they are "jokes" but we know there is truth and real shit behind them.
the smartest thing to do is not attack these men and label them so quickly ...because they will come defensive and not absorb ANYTHING u have to say.
but gently engage them in conversation and PUSH them into questioning WHY they think these "jokes" are OK
make them WONDER why they feel a need to put those statements out there.
that same man is now second guessing a LOT of shit he says.
like "wait
was that colorist ? was that texturist? "
the latter term being one he just learned. he now has a NAME for a lot of the shit he says.
when u know better you do better.
