I was shocked watching this. Why tf was she lipping to the bgs so obviously to then singing minor lead parts a bit more believable but still lipped and still whispered? The "and the rockets red glare..." was the most anticlimatic shit ever.

She looked absolutely beautiful but this gave me NOTHING! I am starting to lose interest in her music endeavors.

I think Brandy is her own musical director and vocal producer for her live performances and therein lies the problem.

This is terrible. Some of yall can try to twist and turn to pretend to like this, but it's TERRIBLE.

AND once again, lipped. Which many of us were hoping she WOULDN'T do when this was first announced and the same people trying to pretend this is good are the same ones upset when it was mentioned that we hope this wasn't going to be lipped.

like there wasn't one spot in this rendition where it fell flat or sounded weird

it was smooth, pretty

i can tell she put so much work into this. "Lazy" my ass

someone not screaming and hollering doesn't mean low effort overall.

if anything i can tell MORE effort was put into this presentation than what is usually put into the anthem teas.
i hear HOURS of work. if not days

it's usually an uneventful, predictable, SNOOZE fest.

She's always putting so much into something that doesn't require all of that. Just sing a powerful and memorable lead that is sung live! I rather her put that effort into a new album instead of using studio time and money to lip sync everything and record backgrounds for every damn thing.

Exactly! Which is exactly my point.  Stop bringing up frank and blaming him for everything this mf does.  Furthermore more, even if Frank DID say "u should do it this way". Brandy is a LEGENDARY artist and has the executive decision to do whatever she wants. So ANYTHING that happens with Brandy is BRANDY'S fault

I liked tbe performance tbh and i loved the snapping even. The only part I didnt like was her not giving us that "money note"

Boy STFU with that dramatic bullshit. Nobody has to act like they like something if they don't. If it didn't click with you that's fine. But acting like your distain must be unanimous is where shit gets corny.

Musically there was nothing TERRIBLE about it. A musically inclined person would clearly hear what she did. If your preference is for her to sing that standard traditionally as she's done 4 times before, good for you. I enjoyed the reinvention and like with most things I believe it will age very well.
