I needed a live strong lead vocal that I know she can do and to stop all of the dramatics for those little ass notes.

If Brandy would've gave us a strong lead w/o the weird pauses (and a different outfit) this would've been perfect

There are plenty of videos of Brandy singing the National Anthem the traditional way if that's what you're looking for. The All-Star Game has historically been a space where artists take creative liberties and showcase their artistry, so this didn't surprise me. She chose to do something different and lean into her signature sound. Not every fan is going to like it, and that's okay. She's being intentional about curating her legacy. I'm here for it.

If Brandy would've gave us a strong lead w/o the weird pause this would've been perfect

exactly. It was too noticeable how her mic was MUTED when the harmonies came in and her face looked like she was singing EXTRA hard for no sound.
Then she was in that soft falsetto the ENTIRE time. She ain't have to HOLLER to just sing loud and clear at least for the climax of the song


But it still musically was good. On key, the harmonies were consonant and her tone is beautiful. She just seems afraid to SANG
