Black people wear their hair in order to socially survive, non-black wear their hair kinky because it?s trendy.
Black bitches aint walking around getting perms because they surviving.
yes they are

In this day and age

It was 'ok' during civil rights cause we came black as fuck

But do you know how many black women feel they need a bone straight mess to get a job?

Are you friends with a black girl?
I have friends that don't get perms. With this whole natural hair movement, I'm definitely not buying perms just to get or keep jobs at this point.  There is so much knowledge about natural hair on EVERY platform, so I'm not going. There is too much to do with your hair then just slapping a perm in it.  It's definitely for A LOOK
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

The struggle is real for Black women and their hair.
I honestly hear about it a lot.
The conversation usually starts with "Your hair is so nice " or "Your hair is so pretty" or "Your hair is so curly" or the cringe worthy "You got some good hair".

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

The fact that black people even say "nigger" is puzzling.

why
Why use a word with YEARS UPON YEARS of hatred, ignorance and oppression attached to it? Especially in reference to your own people? Seems trifling to me.

Wow I never thought about it like that before

Yeah, neither had I until a few years ago. I used to think "oh yeah, words are just words. It doesn't matter anymore."

But it does in fact. We won't truly grow beyond the boundaries this foul word has cursed us with by constantly throwing at our brothers and sisters.

well maybe it's different in Chicago

You know Florida has progressed but the root of this place is    60 year old white men who own every thing and interview everybody

And I've been here all my life

I honestly hear about it a lot.
The conversation usually starts with "Your hair is so nice " or "Your hair is so pretty" or "Your hair is so curly" or the cringe worthy "You got some good hair".

Then it comes out. The insecurities, the fears that they have when it comes to their hair.
Naturally, you want to rush and give a "yeah girl! Trust I have struggles too. We in this together!"
But slowly over time I've just learned to hush and listen.

I'm not constantly told how ugly my hair is - indirectly or directly. People using terms like nappy headed and mess.
I DON'T know how that feels.

That's why I say if I see someone offended about something hair-related
I will let them be offended.

It's also why my tolerance has become SO low when I see someone calling someone out for their "nappy" hair.
I know what these women go through. I cannot sit by and act like it's fucking OK when I see it going down.

Same for all the "darkie" mess.
If I see it going down I am very likely to speak my mind and just deal with whatever the response is.
I don't give a fuck
yeah I have two sisters who are older than me so they grew up in the 80/90s as teens so they experienced that shit

But since their teen years my mom stopped that and now I have a niece and my sister don't play that shit

She doesn't even have an idea about the idea of being straight haired or being insecure about it

She puts her hair in lil braids and puffs or brushes it out and I'm always so proud of my sister  :stressed:
