I swear for y'all to be grown ass men y'all sure are very immature. It's just a fucking commercial. Had the child been "regular" or not a "cliche" it would've defeated the entire point of this marketing strategy.

Oh btw they still won't accept you fags whether you're fem or masculine. You're still a fucking going straight to hell faggot.

What's the point of this marketing strategy, Marg?

And yea it's a commercial. The point of one of those is to persuade an audience to buy a product. We're debating the most effective way of doing that.

Then tell me what that last part had to do with anyyyyything.

Yea that was kinda the point of the marketing strategy. To make it ok and "normal" for all the other little boys like him to join in on the fun and ki a bit.

I think it would actually be more lucrative for this "marketing strategy" to be geared towards the boy who secretly envisions the tassles on couch pillows as hair. To the one who only has treasure trolls because they have hair. To the ones who do know what they will get the side eye if they asked for a doll. There are more of those in American homes than boys like the one in the commercial, who are probably threatening to burn down the house if they don't get a doll anyway. Its more like "look mom, hes holding a doll, and he doesnt scare you by looking/acting like a flaming fag in training." The same as "yes mom, I'm gay, but you don't have to worry about me dying because I didnt say I was a whore." Since we know that boys with dolls is looked down upon in most households to begin with, why paint it in such a strong, intimidating, uncomfortable way if your trying to get unsure parents to maybe buy their sons a doll?  "Great marketing duh!!! sell Barbie to queen in training! so outside the box!!" . A less flamboyant image would sell more dolls to less progressive families than zeroing in on the "type" of snap crackle pop! boy that "normally picks up dolls anyway." If they are already buying dolls, where is the gain?

I feel like fem gays are innately fem, in the same way that transgenders describe never feeling right being their original gender. I don't see the issue. Who cares that much what random homophobes think anyway

!

and these faggots here can easily type in a masculine tone but we know the real T. None of your faves are men and the females you Stan for are extreme feminist so let's not girls.

Do you need a new, relevant, thread to get something off of your chest? How does what you're saying pertain to what we're discussing? You're just ranting just because.

Miranda

I see Alonso's point, and actually thought the same in the beginning. But then again it is a damn BARBIE, who are you fooling. The most vain, diva, sassy toy you can possibly have. Not even a "regular" girl plays with a Barbie, it's particularly made for those type of flashy kids.

Yeah it is less intimidating with a less fabulous protagonist, but it is just not convincing. Unless they introduced a down to earth, cool Barbie. But this Moschino Barbie calls for SASS.

That's what good television is. And that's what great marketing is, as well. They did a really good job with the commercial. You have to remember their target audience...who buys these dolls? Women. When a woman sees this, she's gonna chuckle at the little boy saying "fierce". She's not gonna think that all gay men are overtly feminine faggots. :dead:

But you don't need a marketing strategy to get that particular woman to buy your doll for a boy. She's already in. She ki's about it. You need to persuade Beth from the boondocks. And scaring her won't do it. Hence the uproar about the commercial. That's why I think a more mild approach is needed. Mattel hits them over the head with that, not great marketing imo.

Well maybe that's it. I think Afro mentioned this, too.

I don't get your point. Why do you people desire mainstream acceptance so bad?! If you're so masculine and under the radar why would and does this offend you? Live in your truth. Even if you aren't Fem, you're still a homosexual at the end of the day. Love and support one another. This commercial is bringing nationwide attention to an otherwise taboo fact. Regardless, Beth isn't gonna buy her son Barbies whether the kid was regular or not. That's just the fact of the matter.

Love and accept yourself girls. It's pathetic to feel the need to dim your light so that others can feel "comfortable" or "safe" with who you are.

Miranda

Lonz is talking about the best selling strategy, not his own personal ethical views on gender roles.

It's not taboo that flamboyant sassy boys to like Barbies though, everybody knows that, that's why even little boys are terrified to ask their mothers for a Barbie, cause they would fear their mom and friends would seem him as that kind of boy.

Its not really about mainstream acceptance though. We're just talking about what would really sell that doll, and what exactly their target audience may be

Maybe they could have showed two different types of males or something, idk. I definitely wasn't offended though.
