I think it would actually be more lucrative for this "marketing strategy" to be geared towards the boy who secretly envisions the tassles on couch pillows as hair. To the one who only has treasure trolls because they have hair. To the ones who do know what they will get the side eye if they asked for a doll. There are more of those in American homes than boys like the one in the commercial, who are probably threatening to burn down the house if they don't get a doll anyway. That's what good television is. And that's what great marketing is, as well. They did a really good job with the commercial. You have to remember their target audience...who buys these dolls? Women. When a woman sees this, she's gonna chuckle at the little boy saying "fierce". She's not gonna think that all gay men are overtly feminine faggots.

But you don't need a marketing strategy to get that particular woman to buy your doll for a boy. She's already in. She ki's about it. You need to persuade Beth from the boondocks.
