might I also add, it's not JUST the fact that adele is white why she's so successful. she writes her shit and has a story to go along with it. She speaks for the heartbroken and isn't afraid to push the envelope with the "asshole you hurt me" type shit. lots of female artist really try to follow the "female empowerment" route while Adele is perfectly fine talking about how fucking hurt she is over and over and people gravitate towards that.

not to mention, she's very down to earth and very IDGAF this is me. she's very authentic. though majority of her fan base is probably white, many colored people purchase and support her as well. You're right, if Jazmine Sullivan or someone were to sing "Hello" it probably wouldn't do as well but that's not just because of the skin color. it's more to it than that. Adele has a niche and she's comfortable in it and she owns it. her voice, her charisma, her artistry >>> skin color
!!!!!!!

I can see ppl jumping on the success of Miley or Taylor, or even Britney Spears because of privilege.

but Adele? ... it just doesn't apply

Nine

Well he has a point

But yeah, there are some other factors to Adele's success besides her race

Miranda

I think part of the reason why Adele is so liberated and can give carefree etc so well
is her skin color. As a black person you face much more hardship and boxing that wouldn't allow you to be like that in the first place. I'm sure black people who don't "church" or "thug" it up have the hardest time getting a record deal.

Bentley!

I just don't see how it solely applies

and do we wanna make it a race issue or musical issue
because
Beyonce, Nicki, hell even Rihanna... they don't make "heavy" music :dead:
but they are pushed to the front

how about the same gorls that cry about Adele winning... go spend their coins on a black soul singer's alberms instead of spending on Beyonce concert tickets  :kii:

If Jazmine or Fantasia sang 'Hello' they wouldn't be selling 3 million first week

No they wouldn't because they never had an album sell 30 million copies. If bey or rihanna weren't singing some of their songs it wouldn't be hots either. Lol.

you're missing the point.....she deserves success...but 5 times more success than the top black female artist?

its the inequality that people are annoyed by.

Judging by the material she puts out.....yes, she deserves 5x the success of the black female artist out.

Shes had her own hurdle to over come....her weight. Being a heavy white woman presents its own level of discrimination.

Now Miley and Taylor on the other hand

m....ok

and what hurdles? kjkjkjjkj....thats what people LOVE about her...that she's a regular sized woman.....

i'll just say when you're told enough times that someone is just so incredible and perfect you start to believe it....its a human thing...to the point were you don't even realize you've been 'brainwashed'...i dont wanna call it 'brainwashing' because the girl can clearly sing....

You don't make sense. All of this applies to beyonce, rihanna, Taylor etc. The media is always "pushing" them. Adele wasn't
pushed on the people. Her songs became successful om their own.

she's no industry puppet by any means!

Stewie

what does that have to do with the fact that she's doing these numbers because she's white?
