You guys know I have an ongoing love affair with beautiful dark skinned women.  :dead:  Kenya is (was) quite high on my list. Naomi is somewhere in the middle. I always thought they had the most beautiful eyes. So you could imagine my dismay to find out that they both wear colored contacts.

A big reason I love these women is because of their unapologetic pride in their own skin, heritage and natural beauty. I thought GODya and 'omi were better than the whole 1998 colored contact mess. Still love them but for some reason I'm so disappointed. I feel as if these types of "add-ons" say that our natural God given beauty isn't enough. This is better, this is prettier.

You don't see white women going around changing their icy blue eyes or green eyes to brown. But mess. I still love them, but it's tainted. :stressed: Ignorance is truly bliss.

Maybe they just like that contacts AMPLIFIES their look a bit
No need to judge women for doing things that makes them feel comfortable. It doesn't mean they feel they're not good enough. Like don't you style your hair a certain way cause you like it? I don't see how this is any different. But mess.

How is styling natural hair comparative to wearing colored contacts?
I'm drawing a blank.  :dead:

And I don't really "style" my hair, cuz I don't like the way styling products dry out my hair.
a lot of gel, mousses, etc. i've learned less is more with my head.
the most I use of a styling product a PINCH of gel. Literally a dime size. and that's for my entire head. just for a bit of hold.

i'm not here for hard looking and feeling hair.

Everything else I do is focused on keeping it healthy. and moisturized. the conditioner and shampoo I use is paraben free, silicone free, etc. even my leave in is free of harmful chemicals. I pay more but I'd prefer health over a quick style any day. anything that could be harmful, including heat, I don't want it. Regardless of how cute it looks. but thats just me. Im not judging anyone else. I just realize that I only get one head of hair and I have to treat it right.

So I cannot comfortably compare hair care to throwing blue contacts in my eyes.

those cosmetic contacts do not promote eye health in any way.

I don't think its black trying to be white. Its more 'boring' brown eyed types wanting to be 'special' like those with coloured eyes. Asians, middle eastern, orientals etc all express the blue/green/grey eyes, not just white people.
I don't think it's intentionally trying to be white , either.
But it's definitely influenced by eurocentric standards of beauty that have been forced upon many of our african american sisters.
!!!! It's what black girls run around calling "pretty" :dead: anything but their own

Oooh he got "pretty eyes". n

ur the only one up in arms Indian slut.

:omgwatshappening:

No hun you came in here saying I was judging this person

judging that person

I LOVE Kenya and stan for her :uhh: :uhh:
why would I judge her?

Just like those black girls running around saying "ooooh ur hair so pretty!" "ur eyes so pretty!!!!"..are not to be judged either. its not their fault.

but theres no harm in acknowledging and discussing it.
just because someone chooses to do so doesn't mean they're being an asshole. they're being real.

Maybe your disappointment is the very reason they wear them. Seems like you guys deem these women less attractive now that you know the truth

Yes I call that judging, especially when the comments are negative.

It is my opinion and you will deal

And he's the same person who was angry when someone described Toni's beauty as "Middle eastern beauty"...asking why all black women have to be described as another race to be beautiful...

Well hun here's why...I love Toni but she clearly has an Indian YAK perched in her head!
:dead:

Why book the person who simply noticed the tea she was putting out?
she has indian yak and a native inspired outfit on for her album cover :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

we get angry for people noticing the teas

but won't address where it all STEMS from.
