Blood relation doesn't always mean an obligation...

I'm most connected with my sisters I was raised with
and I love my half brothers thru my dad. But not everyone sees half siblings the way I do. Some people just see them as "half". As in, not real. It makes me cringe when I see people referring to them as such. Like, everytime they mention their names. Nene constantly does that. If you're kin, you're kin.

But I guess I can understand. She's also quick to call someone "half breed"when it comes to race. So to me this means if you're not full anything, you're not real anything to her.

Maybe this is how Mariah feels.

I agree that people aren't obligated to take care or love on their siblings. A lot of people just tolerate their siblings simply because they feel like they HAVE to for their parents sake. I get it.

But I feel like when it comes to death, people should put all grudges aside. I mean, just to have a clear conscious of their own, IMO.

That's kind of selfish though. If you're not doing good for the sake of your relative, but just so you can feel better about yourself, why even do it...if that's the motivation then you really don't care for them to begin with. You might as well just keep your distance

I would assume they were but searching here online I can't find any evidence that points towards them being half. Puzzling. But still understandable. There are people who want nothing to do with their own parents because of mistakes that they made, and parents are the closest relative we have.

Generally it's seen as OK if a huge basketball star doesn't want to speak with his deadbeat crackhead dad after he magically POPS up when he sees him on TV.  Hey son! Finally found u!

But many of us would understand that. Why not understand Mariah's situation?

This is family stuff and Mariah hasn't been an open book when it comes to discussing her relatives. So we don't know how she feels really.

U can't control other people,  only yourself.  Im going to make sure i put forth an effort so that later in life im not plagued with anything because i know i atleast did MY part. That's def. how I see it.

I can never hold a grudge on anyone for that reason alone. It takes way too much energy and as you can see with Mariah (alcoholic) its eating her up - subconsciously.

In order to desire a clear conscious, you must genuinely care about the person first.  You must know that if something happens, you won't be able to forgive yourself. These things cross your mind usually when it's someone who you're close to and that you love. Or maybe even someone you're just concerned about. If there's no concern, where is the need for this clear conscious? Where does it come in?
