I think if you are less than 25% of something, it's not worth talking about. You always hear people say "I'm a quarter Spanish" or "I'm half white, half black." Nobody is walking around saying they are mixed cause they are 10% Native American.

Why can't people just be happy being black??

I mean, Romero hit the nail on the head earlier on in this thread; we're taught that Black is the bottom of the barrel from an early age so a lot of the more impressionable folk seek out and latch for filth onto the fact that they're not 100% nigger and mixed with some (usually nonexistent) mess.

Yeah I think it's great that Herb has found interest in his roots, but it's kinda overkill. Tired of hearing/seeing your grandma. If it was just confined to the ancestry threads, that would be fine because I would just avoid them. But you find a way to bring it into everything.

What annoys me and it's not directed to anyone in this thread..
Is that when black people do their DNA tests, they spend more time on the less than 25% European, N.A ect DNA, than focusing on the good more relavent stronger 50%+ African DNA they have
It's like being 'African' is basic and enough and they want to explore the minuscule 2.5% of Norwegian blood

Honestly i never cared about ancestry until I moved to the south . I was pretty much happy being a Black boy. my music was specific to the black gay community .. My swag ... What I see in the mirror.

But I'm from nyc . We have Puerto Ricans Dominicans walking around... White black... Seeing someone with curly hair is not w big deal.

Light skin/dark skin good hair/bad hair is crazy down here in the south. None of this started until my hair started growing long.

People may think it's a joke or a kii or even a lie but I can't tell u how many times I hear "how did u get ur hair like that?" "U got some good hair" "what is in ur hair?" "I wish I had ur hair"

It's like they're complimenting u but u can feel their envy piercing thru ur skin as well. And it's mostly black women . Men for the most part don't care from what I've seen.

One female barber yanking my hair from the root down here to make sure it wasn't a perm after I told her it wasn't. Even here I have to deal with people feeling it's ok to make fun of my hair cuz it's different.

The reality is most black men have kinky hair. It's not something I made up.  Look it up. If it were normal I wouldn't deal with anything I have to deal with. Call it a sob story or a lie but the ones kii'ing will be the first to call me ramen noodle tomorrow.

Learning what makes me different has given me peace. I love my ramen noodles. And where they come from. And if my pride offends u oh fucking well.
