it's tricky but you should def see Africans, African Americans, and other black and brown folk as separate people. Socially, I can see why we'd want to lump us all together, but culturally no. To me, accepting "Black" when you know otherwise is just subscribing to the White notion that we're all just niggers, you're all just Black. especially when this is coupled with "in their eyes..." Youre submitting to massa's viewpoint. You're doing yourself a disservice by accepting that and not representing/valuing/acknowledging your background. Why can a White person sport Irish, German, etc and be Irish or German..... but we can't be Dominican or whatever without one of US going "ch you're Black have a seat." It's very slave-like actually, that mentality. We're automatically jealous or threatened by one of us trying trying to embrace something "other." Don't get me wrong it's equally slave-like to embrace things when they don't really apply to you, to try to give special, exotic, whatever.

Wow .. Very good point.

I saw these two Africans on the train Saturday and they were clearly not from NYC .. They were excited as the train passed the Statue of Liberty, etc. nbbbb plastered to the Windows.

They were a couple . It was something so regal about them. Like just effortlessly above it all. I found myself trying to figure out which country they were from. But they looked South African.

I felt so honored to be in their presence. I tried not to let them see me staring ljsjsnsjdnjn they were just beautiful . Striking.
You have been cracking me up lately

I really think Blacks are the main ones trying to differentiate from one another.

Most people see a black person and see BLACK.
Even if you're half white or half something.

We come in all different shapes and sizes; depending on where we live we may talk different and have slightly different cultures but we're all kin

Not true. Y'all think non-blacks are brain dead and can't tell the difference jfjjj
