even tho Snoop can't properly present what he's feeling ... maybe this will cause a movement

ppl the movies and what they write about is how they CURRENTLY view us!

Look. Nobody but Tyler Perry is writing you as a lawyer or investment banker!

That's not completely true....ABC's Black-Ish features Anthony Anderson as an advertising executive. And definitely paints the picture of a more wholesome and still realistic Black family.

But we flock to Empire cuz that's more crunk I suppose
!!!!

see even I bypassed it! all the GREASE and coonery outshine it

KING BENTLEY.

I freed myself from Empire tho

never watched past the second episode
:feelinmyself: :feelinmyself: :feelinmyself:

The thing is black ppl eat up the coonery. They love Madea, Empire and all those other buffoonery but get mad when stereotyped.

I like the character Madea, I just don't like the world and other mess Tyler paints around her.

Kids are still perched in middle/high school reading about some little Jewish girl hiding in an attic, what about the slave diaries that have been published? Let them take a step into the shoes of a slave who was locked in a basement and writing about how much they miss their children. Or how their husband was just sold off. Or the desperation and hopelessness that came with emancipation; being free and not knowing where to go. Not knowing where your family is. No way to contact them. There was no Facebook, or IM, or phones, or AncestryDNA to help.

Fuck that little girl.

Ok, is this Anne Frank.
And you're saying there should be a diary of a slave as well, right?

Forgive me if I'm not catching the point.
Right. Its not about saying "we had it worse!!"

But we're forced to spend so much time and energy reading the diary of some little girl that wasn't even from this country but yet the diaries of slaves are not introduced into the classroom. They would be JUST as educational and relevant. If not more.

Well, if we want to be technical...
Anne Frank was a true story, right? Supposedly?

Unless someone is hiding the diary of a slave, if a slave was even allowed to write/read and possess papers to store away... a slave diary would have to be fictitious, no?
See, this is WHY we need this.

I made a topic about this months ago, which flopped.
Slave diaries are real, and they are plentiful.

So There's your "new story" . Something new to someone is something that they had never known to exist.
no offense to Ralf at all, but BOOK

Whew

I just like the fact that she's a hot mess intentionally. The things she says and does is meant to be funny, and not taken seriously. I kind of see her as a subversion to the mammy trope.

It's just when Tyler tries to give DRAMA and social commentary he fucks up and ends up looking foolish.

Success built from drug empires, murder and theft.

Only to then turn it over to a predominately white board who eventually votes him out.

Yeah, it's just dripping with Black reverence and respect for our intelligence.

From a time when there was:
Martin, Moesha, The Parkers, Girlfriends, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Wayans Brothers, Living Single, Sister Sister... just to name a few.

To now just: Empire and Blackish?

Oh yea. We're in great times.
