I honestly wouldn't wanna hear her sing that.

I feel like r&b is being fucking white washed.
The ONLY "soul" songs that get radio spins on top 40 are by white artists.
Adele song would not be a hit even if Beyonce fucking sang it. That girl Mehgan Trainor (sp?) and John Legend song would not be a hit if a black woman was on there. The I'll Be Here song (forgot her name) would not be spinned on top 40 either if that was some black girl

Actually don't care. There are plenty of black artists who are successful and so forth. The problem lies within R&B artists and their management not pushing themselves and their music harder and also the fact that most artists are mostly lazy. And this doesn't just apply to R&B artists. This goes for the pop gorls too.

And it has nothing to do with her being black. She's heavy set and ratchet and wears colorful weave.
Adele is heavy set and dresses like Old Mother Hubbard
why is that "marketable"?

Right. It further proves the damn point

Especially coming from someone who was only putting out mixtapes and couldn't drop an album to save her life. She went on #LHHATL, became one of the breakout stars and built herself a fanbase and went on. First album did 72k first week and I think the last album did nearly 90k, both sold between 300-400k overall. That's not bad in THIS musical climate for an R&B artist, especially of her caliber

Something can be certified platinum, but that doesn't mean that there still isn't a preference of what people prefer 'fas to be singing about.
XO was able to scrap up a platinum cert at #42 on the charts, whereas Drunk In Love comfortably went 3x platinum and shot to #2, almost giving her another #1 hit.
Rihanna's Russian Roulette went TWO times platinum, my love.
But once she threw the dramatics to the side and starting feeling on dick with Rude Boy, she got herself a #1 single and 5x platinum certification.
So throwing out an RIAA cert really means nothing in a discussion regarding clear preference of artistry from black females in the industry. The evidence of preference is undeniably clear.

The whites seem to love us when we're cooning out and rolling our necks, or being slutty. It's when 'fas shoots up the charts, when she's singing about riding a surfbort in a tub. But they told her to keep her XO's.
We've already been over this and you were TOSSED around.
:sittingontopoftheworld:
nnnnnn
been over what? the stats? cuz here they are.
Surfbort - 2
XO - 45
DriL is better than that song. end of.

True, but by the way that she performs it, you can tell she wanted it to be a Firework type hit and it fckin should've been. The world is just racist

I don't think she cares
she performs Run The World the same way even though it flopped
and Why Don't You Love Me did nothing
but yea pop songs by YT ppl sell more
All these songs sound different that the song she released as a single. She really is trying to branch out

No one said it flopped. Did I say that?
I said DIL went to #2, whereas XO never cracked Top 40.
The Top 40 gorls said no thanks. But welcomed her slutty behavior with open arms!
And XO definitely deserved to be a Top 40 hit for her. Without question. So that alone shows you, not even 'fas is exempt. She may have slithered it in a lot easier during that wave when a lot of black people were ruling the Top 40, but she has to really come at different angles these days.

it all pretty much falls in line with how white men have viewed our women since the days of slavery. sexually overt, slutty women who want to be sexed up and need to be tamed. excuses they made up in their sick minds that made them feel better about raping them. a lot of this mess still exists today in a cute modern package

Just like she cringes at songs like bootylicious and things ssssd and came for girls like Rihanna when she was talking about "I make real albums, and these girls are just throwing out microwave single after single" mess during her 4 era

Queen wanted the girls to feel XO. Queen wanted an anthem message hence why Pretty Hurts was released as the follow-up over other ballads.
:stressed: Drunk is just.... So much better than that shit song XO.
But it wasn't always like this. Halo was MASSIVE and Sweet Dreams was MASSIVE. but some kinda switch happened and all these talentless white girls started taking over. I blame Taylor Shit.

u can't believe it because its such an epic song :usureuok:
No bby :plzstop: the song is terr' IMO but I thought it peaked higher because she performed it live many times and had a video for it
dssssssssss she wanted that to smash so bad
i honestly think 'fas wants to be widely known for something other than horse hair swinging and neck rolling.
she seems to have a special connection to songs like XO, in my opinion.
i think she definitely wants to be seen a bit differently. Obviously she's a mega star, but I think she'd trade in some of the accolades to be seen as the Adele "real music" girl
Just like she cringes at songs like bootylicious and things ssssd and came for girls like Rihanna when she was talking about "I make real albums, and these girls are just throwing out microwave single after single" mess during her 4 era

I just said earlier in the thread that it was easier for her to creep in with XO'ish mess when more black people were dominating Top 40. if she wants a hit now, she better be in full slut mode, riding surfborts, eating jay z's cakes in limos, etc.

The point of what she said (completely miss quoted in that post) is that she takes her time make an album and didnt want the focus to initially be on just one song but digest the full thing.
She (unlike many artist) love the stuff they've made in the past. Kinda the reason she JUST performed "Bootylicious" at MIA. Doubt if someone "cringed" they would perform it still years later.
She has hits and failures in all forms and genres. The word "r3@l mus1q" has never came out of those pretty little lips. She knows that's bullshit and subjective. Why she doesnt mind getting a lil craze on stage dancing to "Fuck up some Commas" n "Truffle Butt'" :udontlookok:

all this is beside the point tho.
Yes, Beysus is the most famous black singin' bitch in today's music. But the success Adele blimp ass just had with a "soulful" song would not have come about had Beysus or another black girl sung it.
During Destiny Fulfilled she did kinda say "If I hear Bootylicious ONE MORE TIME"
but I think it was more because she played it out, not that she didn't like the song

She's so bitter and lame. No one wants to hear her howling any song let alone "Hello" tears
Is there discrimination in the industry? Of course. But I don't think Adele is a good example for this.
I can admit that I came for Adele for singing Soul and Blues influenced songs and being successful while artists like Jazmine Sullivan aren't but now that I see the bigger picture - I can't be upset at Adele. It's up to black people to support their artists.
Yea, Adele has an advantage because she's white but she has a marketable image as well, IMO. Her success isn't a mystery. Though I don't care for "Hello;" it IS a good Pop song. The lyrics are great, as well. The video is perfect. She had all the elements for a smash hit so why are people mad? :kii: "Oh but black!" plea'
If a black female artist sang the song it wouldn't be enjoyable, IMO. There would be a lot of vibrato, melisma, etc. And I say that as someone who enjoys a good vocal lashing. But "Hello" is good because of it's simplicity. There's even a soft rock feel to it kinda like The Carpenters or Carole King. She really appealed to all people with that song. Y'all acting like only white people stan for that woman :kii: I see/hear so many black people stanning for Adele tbh.
I think we all just need to admit that not everyone finds black artist's style of singing appealing. I used to think "Whew! Jaz' should be way more successful" but her voice is HEAVY and a bit complicated. It's an acquired taste. So the fact that she never crossed over is not a mystery to me anymore.
I don't think it all has to do with race tho. Adele's image consists of being the victim of failed relationships, being ill-built, cheeky, and talented. She uses all these factors to manipulate ppl into buying into her product. Her being white just ensures that the product will play on Top 40, something that is not as probable for black acts, even if they were the full package as well.

but even when black ppl support "our" artists, unless one of their songs shows up on Top 40, they're deemed a flop. That's the main reason Rihanna is deified like she's some kinda supreme talent. Because the crackers use.
It should be up to Top 40 to start being more inclusive. :ohwow:

this is all ignorant and missed the point
K never said SHE wanted to sing the song or that would sound good
and no one insulted Adele.
Furthermore it's ridiculous to say that ppl don't like "Black ppls style of singing" as if EVERY Black person sings the same
and even worse to act like we sing EVERYTHING the same way
Christina Aguilera is WHITE with a HEAVY voice and she does more runs than Jazmine ever will. So would she sound good because she's white?
you sound REALLY dumb here :uhh:
All she said was that if a black girl sang "Hello", it would not be a smash hit and it really wouldn't. It's no bitterness in her saying that, it's just the truth.
Katy can bring "Dark Horse" to Urban radio, whereas a lot of our black artist have to fight to have our records played on mainstream radio or we are pigeon holed into singing one type of music and then we all complain about our artist not taking risks. The labels won't all some of them to do so.

If a black woman did "Hello" it would flop.....I know the anticipation was a huge factor for Adele, but even if it was sung by Tori Kelly it had a chance of being a hit because the program directors would take a chance because of her skin color.
The music industry has definitely regressed. We all get on Tinashe, but she gets it, she wants to be on top 40 radio but her material just isn't strong enough. She did say in an interview producers etc try not to give her their best material. She doesn't have a lot of star quality in my opinion but she has more than Ariana and Tori....
New black female artists that have potential to blow up, just go straight to top 40 and cross over to urban. It's a losing game in todays time if you start out at urban as a black female. You really shoot yourself in the foot. Justine Skye will never pop, urban radio doesn't even play females like that, and if they do you're only getting one single out of them if your name isn't Beyonce & Rihanna.
It's not fair that white artists can come out the game going straight to z100 but we get stuck with hot 97, and it takes 3months for the song to hit top 15....smh

Yeah cause a couple stans on Twitter = album sales.

I support good music. It's that simple. The girls need to sleep their cookies up.
Yep I do too. More importantly, I try to support their live performances. That's where many drop the ball. But you can only do what you can. It's free to tweet, retweet, like their page. White people are social media savvy. Makes no sense why we're not. Hell if we can make James Wright Chanel a celebrity overnight, we can push this music the same way.

It's hard to get people to come to your shows if you aren't popular at the moment. Hell, look what Future did. He have done 4 free mixtapes. The girls are just lazy and want to focus on everything but great music. They only make music that feels good to them and wonder why it flops. Bitch build your brand and then throw them off. Look at Ciara. Girl you can't make nobody get into your music. 4 albums of the same pop shit. Lucky, Body Party was a success because Fut knew what people WANTED. I don't feel bad for some of the girls, really. Why tf would you keep doing the same shit that keep failing. Ugh. I hate some of these girls.

You can't compare food to music.
It's very complex problem no doubt. But all I'm saying is, we have to be smarter. We as in community. As David Ruffin & Eddie Kendrick said: "WE have the voices" (I'm dating myself lol. Love that movie!)

Neither IWAB or Halo came close to Single Ladies in regard to overall success.
just another era proving what people prefer when it comes to 'fas. Neck rolling, weave swinging, nigger fuck you songs. :dead: I mean why is this even being argued or debated? :dead: it's kind of her brand. Yeah she branches off and does an XO mess to give variety but we all know the tea we envision when we think of 'fas. And it's not her standing with slick backed hair by a piano

Okay I'll give you an example. PUT IT DOWN. As much as I love Brandy that's not one of my favorites from her, not her best work IMO. But the success of that song was purely Starz/fan driven. The Starz were in beast mode and it couldn't be denied. Fans have a lot of power to drive the music.

everything isnt always so black and white. U have some people who depend on looks, fashion, and all that other shit that is a deflection from raw talent. U have some people whose careers are a culmination of both, You have some people who transcend all the bullshit and their talent is front and center and people connect with that. Adele is definitely the latter. Something about her is very relatable n likable, PLUS she's talented as shit. Just like u have people like K Michelle whose personality can COMPLETELY turn u off and regardless of their talent u dont wanna invest in them...............plus I dont think K Michelle is a very good singer quite honestly

I'm black and I support my black artists but only an artist like Beyonce can complain. "Halo" should've been as big as "Hello."
But K. Michelle is a flop whether Adele does music or not.
And black artists are more successful than fat ones. Adele's had to overcome industry steryotypes her damn self.

That would be you, ugly ass faggot. You do it all the time and that's where your animosity towards Adele and Justin Timberlake stems from, bitter faggot. You fucking imbecile faggot, I didn't soley blame black artists but the truth is they're just as much to blame. Giving a one dimensional approach in music can only take you so far and on top of that you're black? Yea, a set up for failure. Just look at sTank as an example, faggot.
It's a kii how you have so much to say about "discrimination" towards black artists but you're mute when it comes to real shit like police violence and black history. You're a disgusting faggot.
youre so DUMB
OMG how can you even come up with saying I have animosity towards Adele. There are no insults. If anything I've been happy that she's outselling Taylor you just typed a paragraph to argue and get laughs
You know it has nothing to do with being "one dimensional"
Look at Adele she has 3 albums of Pop ballads
Fhggggg you're dumb

And these days, Jaz is ONLY being played on Urban AC. She hardly gets on play on Urban radio these days.
which is TRASH. her album definitely appeals to urban but they're only concerned with what's already popular :uhh:
its sad really. they aren't even giving a Jazmine a CHANCE to get back to the kind of popularity she had on her debut
she was on the radio quite a bit back then
This is my issue with urban radio. They know it's hard for r&b to get on Top 40 radio and yet they still only play rap and urban songs from top 40. 😐 I swear I hear Selena Gomez and Justin Beiber more than Ciara and Chris out here on the hip hop and r&b stations.

Yall Ci stans are fucking delusional. Ciara peaked about a year into her career. Rihanna going on strong ten years later with 13 #1 songs, numerous other hits and 8 RIAA certified albums :kii: Ciara never had a bigger hit than We Found Love, Umbrella or Diamonds
:plzstop:
GGGB & Loud are bigger albums worldwide than any of Ciara's mess. Sit the fuck back. :kii:

She's British
The amount of stanning for Hello in Europe is so big. People love Adele..also because of her image. She is writing a lot of her own songs, she is a classy lady and therefore labeled 'authentic'. Not many people know K Michele over here. She won't reach Adele's target audience with that zebra. It is funny how Rihanna and Kanye were on the pop rock radio channels because of the Paul McCartney influence.. A lot of the more R&B fans didn't like that song. You can't expect Just a little bit to become a successful pop record if it's 2005 recycled R&B. It is a cute song, but it is not going to change her career. K has a great voice, maybe she just needs to find the right producers.

Hello is also a success because of the endless plays of Set fire to the rain, make you feel my love, somebody like you, Rolling in the deep. She has so many songs people hear every single day on the radio. Her fanbase is huge.
Now I don't really listen to her music because I already hear it so much and I get sick of it.. I will check it out when no one cares anymore :plzstop: it is an overload right now. Hometown glory tho>>>>>>
